About Beardeds
These lizards are native to Central Australia and are exported worldwide. These wonderful reptiles are friendly, smart, docile and trusting and love attention. Their needs are not complex but without the proper husbandry, like with all living creatures, humans included, they can become sick. By developing a schedule and having reliable sources to refer to for advise and information, owning a Bearded Dragon can be a very rewarding experience.
It is their defensive display that earned them the name of “Bearded Dragon”.
When threatened, angry or when the male takes an interest in a lady lizard, they have the ability to puff out the spiny protrusions under their chin, it resembles a beard. This beard can change color; for sexually mature males it’ll turn jet black, and a female’s beard can display a beautiful array of colors. The purpose of this display is to make them look intimidating or studly.
